(76th, 77th Prime Minister of Japan)

In today’s international community, the economics effects brought about by intellectual property rights, including copyright, are showing unprecedented substantial growth compared to other industrial sectors.

We must recognize copyright as not cultural but also an economic force.

In Japan up until today, has been on the realm of culture, and not much attention been paid to its economic potential.

Cultures and industries borne of intellectual property rights, including copyright, are established by the creator’s efforts. We are obligated to protect them firmly in order to reward to those people who have worked so hard.

So doing will contribute to both cultural and economic development.
JVCA has been consistently protecting the rights of copyright holders since its establishment.
I continue to expect great things of JVCA and remain committed to protecting and fostering intellectual property rights, including copyright.
