In today’s international society, intellectual property, which includes copyright, has unsurpassed major economic effects where compared to other industrial areas.
We must view copyright issues not only from a cultural perspective but also from an economic perspective.
In our country, copyrights have belonged to the realm of culture until today and we have not focused on their economic effects.
However, fundamentally cultural and industrial benefits derived from intellectual property, including copyrights, are not possible without the efforts of the creators of that property. In order to compensate those creators, who worked and sweated, for their efforts, we must protect their rights. Such an attitude will contribute to our cultural and economic development.
JVCA has made a major contribution to protection of right holders, establishment of copyrights, and related rulemaking.
In expectation of JVCA’s further success, I will promise to make increased efforts to protection and develop intellectual property including copyrights.
